Intentionally simple and streamlined, there’s less that can fail, and no baffles means fewer cold spots, delivering consistent warmth throughout. The insulation is a next-gen synthetic sheet from Toray, engineered with mechanical crimping to hold its loft and shape, even after repeated use and washing. The shell fabric is an update and is now even more durable with a 15D, 60% bio-nylon blend. Meaning it’s mostly plant base and less reliant on petrochemicals.

Details include elastic cuffs with thumb loops to lock in heat, and a removable hem adjuster for dialing in fit, or shaving off grams when needed.

Since the initial release the Heatwave Puffer has undergone extensive lab testing at IDFL. The results show that the puffer jacket has an exceptional warmth to weight ratio for a synthetic insulation with a garment rating of 2.01 clo and Temp Rating (2 MET) 5°C/42°F. The insulation also shows excellent regain after compression with 97.7% loft recovery. The Heatwave Puffer also has excellent wash durability, with an maximum IDFL rating of grade 5 (no defects after several washes).

The Heatwave Puffer Jacket is crafted from an ultralight bio-nylon blend ripstop by Toray, using 15-denier yarn to create an incredibly fine, compact weave that effectively blocks wind and retains warmth. The blend is 60% bio-nylon, derived from plant based sources. The insulation is a groundbreaking synthetic sheet from Toray, featuring mechanical crimping that maintains loft and durability, even after repeated packing and washing. This innovative combination of materials is what gives the Heatwave its name and its exceptional performance in the outdoors.
